Friendly City, Colorful Life

This video presentation is for the audiences waiting to enter the Republic of Korea Pavilion of the 2010 World Exposition in Shanghai. The first and the last parts of the video feature the introduction about the presentations to be seen at the Korean Pavilion. During the middle part of the video, the actors and actresses appearing in the main presentation of the Korean Pavilion each speak about the cities of their dreams.

The theme for the Korean Pavilion at the exposition is "Friendly City, Colorful Life". A city that we dream of is a city that does not exist in our reality. We, however, featured a city that can be imagined by everyone. For example, one of the cities featured in the presentation is a wish of a young girl, who dreamed of a neighborhood made of a theme park. This was how we have created the scripts of the actors and actresses.

Animation is an effective and powerful tool to express our imagination. Therefore, animation was the most appropriate technique to express the theme. In order to maintain the focus of the viewers, we did not include any unnecessary components in our presentation other than interviewers and animation. The background was chosen as a white color with an aim to best highlight the animation and its colors.

2010년 상해 세계 엑스포의 한국관의 대기하는 관람객을 위해 만들어진 영상물입니다. 영상의 첫 부분과 마지막 부분에서는 한국관에서 상영될 영상물과 영상관에 대한 안내를 담고 있습니다. 영상의 중간 부분에서는 한국관 본 상영물의 배우들이 출연하여, 각자 자신이 꿈꾸는 도시에 대해 이야기 하고 있습니다.

이번 상해 엑스포 한국관의 테마는 "Friendly City, Colorful Life."입니다. 우리가 꿈꾸는 도시는 현실에는 존재하지 않는 도시입니다. 하지만 누구나 상상했을 법한 도시를 이야기하고 싶었습니다. 예를 들면, 어린 꼬마 여자친구가 이야기하는 우리 동네가 놀이동원이였으면 하는 소원입니다. 우리는 그런 컨셉을 바탕으로 출연자들의 대본을 작성하였습니다.

우리가 상상하는 그 무언가를 시각적으로 보여주는 것에 애니메이션은 아주 훌륭한 기법 중에 하나입니다. 그렇기 때문에 애니메이션은 이 주제를 표현하는 데에 있어 가장 적합하였습니다. 그리고 우리는 보는 사람들에게 다른 곳에 시선이 분산되지 않도록, 인터뷰어와 애니메이션 외에는 다른 불필요한 요소는 넣지 않았습니다. 배경을 무채색인 흰색으로 한 것은 애니메이션과 컬러를 최대한 돋보이게 하려는 의도입니다.
