<h3 style="margin-top:40px;">Transparency</h3>
<p>We were in charge of the overall design of the special documentary of the KBS network, “Social capital.” While physical capital is tangible and measurable, social capital can only be formed through human relationships and they are intangible. We, therefore, approached the design with the concept of “transparency.” Because the social capital also grows by building trusts between the people, “transparency” is also connected to “trust.” </p>
<h3 style="margin-top:20px;">투명</h3>
<p>우리는 KBS 특별기획 다큐멘터리 &#8220;사회적 자본&#8221;의 전체 디자인을 총괄하였다. 물리적인 자본은 볼 수 있는 것이고, 측량이 가능한 것이지만 사회적 자본은 오직 사람들과의 관계에서 형성되는 것이고, 그 형태가 보이지 않는 것이다. 그래서 우리는 이 &#8220;투명&#8221;을 컨셉으로 디자인을 풀어나갔다. 그리고 사회적 자본은 사람들간의 신뢰 회복을 통해 그 크기가 커지는 것인데, &#8220;투명하다&#8221;라는 것은 &#8220;신뢰&#8221;라는 것과도 일맥상통한다.</p>

<h3 style="margin-top:40px;">Visualizing Accuracy</h3>
<p>We have carried out a project to improve the weather forecast graphics with the KBS news graphic division in 2011.</p>
<p>		Based on preliminary study, we discovered that there was no single system on weather graphic designs of the news channels including the programs of the open air broadcasters. We decided on the style of icons and established a set of rule to design the information pages.</p>
<p>		Accuracy is the key of weather reporting programs. We decided to show accuracy even from the design of a map. We checked the GPS information for the coastal lines of the Korean Peninsula and locations of major world cities and matched them with 3D data by forming a special team.</p>
<h3 style="margin-top:20px;">정확함을 시각화하다</h3>
<p>우리는 KBS 보도 그래픽부와 함께 2011년 날씨 그래픽 개선 프로젝트를 진행하였다.</p>
<p>		우리는 사전 조사를 통해, 지상파 뉴스 프로그램을 포함하여, 보도 채널의 날씨 그래픽 디자인이 통합되어 관리되고 있지 않음을 발견할 수 있었다. 우리는 아이콘 스타일을 정하고, 이렇게 정해진 규칙에 따라 정보 페이지 디자인을 진행하였다.</p>
<p>		정확한 보도는 날씨 프로그램의 핵심이다. 우리는 지도 디자인에서부터 정확함을 보여주고자 하였다. 한반도 해안선과 세계 주요 도시의 위치는 GPS 정보를 체크하여, 이를 3D 데이터와 일치시키는 작업을 별도의 팀을 운용하여 진행하였다.</p>

<h3 style="margin-top:30px;">Installing 63 units of 46-inch LCD displays</h3>
<p>A renovation project of the visitors&#8217; hallway that presents the production process of Hite beer was designed by Suh Architects. We cooperated with Suh Architects to install 63 units of 46-inch LCD displays on the tour course. A video with resolution of 13,440 x 1080 was presented. The video shot with a super speed HD camera by a special beer filming team was combined to create the images of beer with desirable resolution. This video installation is currently on exhibit at the Hite’s Jeonju factory.</p>
<h3 style="margin-top:20px;">대형 디스플레이를 위한 영상 제작</h3>
<p>하이트 맥주의 제조과정을 보여주는 견학로 레노베이션 프로젝트를 서아키텍스에서 진행하였다. 우리는 서아키텍스와 함께 견학로 중의 일부구간에 46인치 LCD 디스플레이를 63개 연결하여 총 해상도 13,440 x 1080에 달하는 영상을 보여주기로 하였다. 맥주 특수 촬영팀과 함께 HD 초고속 카메라로 촬영된 영상을 합성하여 원하는 해상도의 맥주 영상을 얻어낼 수 있었다. 현재 이 설치 영상물은 하이트 맥주 전주 공장에서 관람객을 위해 상영되고 있다.</p>

<h1>STX Group&#8217;s Vision 2020 : Keynote</h1>

<h3>The experience and our expertise</h3>
<p>Marking its 10th anniversary, the STX Group held a celebration event and the declaration of its vision 2020 on April 29, 2011, in Dalian, China. STX Chairman Kang Duk-soo and the group’s top executives as well as about 1,000 dignitaries from around the world attended the ceremony.</p>
<p>				At this event of declaring the group’s vision, we were in charge of the design of STX Group Vice Chairman Shin Chul-seak’s presentation by using Apple’s KeyNote. Different from Powerpoint of Microsoft, the application has many strong animation effects. The application also allows us to freely layout and control 3D animations that we have created on top of the texts and tables.</p>
<p>				Since the launch of our company, we have used KeyNote to create many proposals to our clients. The experience and our expertise allowed us to successfully manage the vision declaration event.</p>
<h3 style="margin-top:20px;">안정적 KeyNote 운용</h3>
<p>STX그룹은 2011년 4월 29일 중국 다롄에서 강덕수 STX 회장을 비롯한 그룹 계열사 주요 최고경영진과 중국, 중동, 유럽 등 전세계 1,000여명의 각계 인사가 참석한 가운데 STX그룹 출범 10주년 기념행사 및 ‘비전 2020’ 선포식을 개최했다.</p>
<p>				우리는 이 비전 선포식에서 STX 그룹 신철식 부회장이 프리젠테이션하는 내용의 키노트 디자인을 전담하였다. Apple의 KeyNote는 Microsoft의 PowerPoint와 달리 기본 애니메이션 이펙터가 강력하다. 게다가 KeyNote상에서는 우리가 직접 제작한 3D 애니메이션을 KeyNote위의 Text와 Table 위에 자유자재로 레이아웃하고 컨트롤 할 수 있다는 큰 장점을 갖고 있다.</p>
<p>				우리는 회사 설립 이후 지금까지 고객사에게 각종 제안을 KeyNote로 진행하였다. 이러한 경험이 비전 선포식을 안정적으로 운용되는 데에 큰 도움을 주었다.</p>

<h3 style="margin-top:30px;">Let’s play with lines</h3>
<p>The traditional Korean games of children have a common point – they play with lines. The idea was the inspiration of this branding project. NOLL TV, a specialized leisure program broadcasting channel, did not have an existing brand image. We, therefore, tried to use “lines,” which are relatively easy to interpret their forms, to attract the viewers’ attention.</p>
<p>		For this project, we wanted to present the structure and concept of the brand image of NOLL TV in a simple and clear way. That will allow us to apply the brand in more versatile ways with more free interpretation when we move forward future projects with NOLL TV.</p>
<p>		We have decided to use <a href="http://www.fontshop.com/fontlist/super_families/museo/">Museo</a>, designed by <a href="http://www.josbuivenga.demon.nl/">Jos Buivenga</a>, as the basic English-language font. We thought it was a great font that expresses the concept of a line, which we wanted to utilize in this branding project. Museo is a free font, and some parts of it are available publicly. We did not want it to be wrongly used or abused, although many free fonts ended up in such tragic destinies. Therefore, we delicately refined the fonts in order to maximize the characteristics of the fonts’ forms.</p>
<h3 style="margin-top:20px;">선과 함께 뛰어놀자</h3>
<p>땅따먹기, 줄넘기, 사방치기 등 어릴 적 우리가 즐겨하던 놀이에 &#8216;선&#8217;이라는 공통점이 있다는 아이디어에서 이번 브랜드 작업은 출발하였다. 새롭게 개국하는 레저 전문 채널 NOLL TV는 브랜드 이미지가 기존에 구축되어 있지 않은 경우였다. 그래서, 우리는 &#8220;선&#8221;이라는 비교적 형태적 해석이 쉬운 소재를 활용하여 시청자들에게 어필하고자 하였다.</p>
<p>		우리는 이번 프로젝트에서 NOLL TV라는 브랜드를 지지하는 구조나 컨셉이 단순하고 명쾌하게 보이고자 했다. 그래서 이 프로젝트 이후에도 이 브랜드와 함께 여러 작업을 수행해 나갈 때, 응용이 좀 더 자유롭고 해당 브랜드 이미지가 쉽게 해석되기를 기대하고 있다.</p>
<p>		우리는 영문 기본 서체로 <a href="http://www.josbuivenga.demon.nl/">Jos Buivenga</a>가 디자인 한 <a href="http://www.fontshop.com/fontlist/super_families/museo/">Museo</a>를 사용하기로 했다. 이번 브랜딩 작업에서 가져가고자 하는 선의 컨셉을 잘 표현한 폰트라고 판단했다. Museo는 Free font로 일부가 공개되어있는데, 우리는 대다수의 Free font의 운명이 그러하였듯이 남용되거나 잘못 사용되기 바라지 않았다. 서체가 가진 형태적인 특징이 부각될 수 있도록 크기나 위치를 섬세하게 다듬었다.</p>

<h3>Perfect Home</h3>
<p>Do-Ho Suh’s new project, A Perfect Home : The Bridge Project, was exhibited at the Storefront for Art and Architecture in New York and Leeum Museum in Seoul. His new project presents the vision of building the “Perfect Home” on the midpoints of four bridges that link Seoul and New York. Four displays, linked to one another, exhibited the project. We created a 10-minute-long video clip for each display, and the clips were played repeatedly. The clips present the artist’s intention of designing each bridge and the simulation of the bridge.</p>
<h3 style="margin-top:20px;">Perfect Home</h3>
<p>서도호 작가의 새로운 프로젝트 A Perfect Home : The Bridge Project가 뉴욕 Storefront for Art and Architecture과 베를린의 DAAD 갤러리 그리고 서울의 리움 미술관에서 전시되었다. 그의 새로운 프로젝트는 서울과 뉴욕을 오가는 4개의 다리와 그 중간 지점에 &#8220;Perfect Home&#8221;을 건축하는 구상을 보여준다. 이 프로젝트는 서로 연결된 4개의 디스플레이를 통해 전시되었다. 우리는 이 각각의 디스플레이에 약 10여분간 반복 상영되는 영상을 제작하였다. 영상은 각각의 다리를 디자인하게 된 작가의 의도를 설명하고 그 다리의 디자인을 시뮬레이션하여 보여준다.</p>

<h3>Reassembled them into completely new sentences.</h3>
<p>It is a documentary film capturing Do Ho Suh’s Cause &amp; Effect, showcased on Oct. 8, 2010 as the opening piece for the Hite Collection. We spent about a year to film the progress of the work’s completion and edited the total recordings of 2,365 minutes to finish this documentary.</p>
<p>		Without a designated narrator, the documentary is formed to deliver the story through narrations of the staffs who had participated in the whole process of the artwork from the design of the exhibition space and creation of dolls to installation and completion.</p>
<p>		In order to convey the contents, a professional narrator with a clear voice would have been more proper. And yet, we took the rick of using the production staffs’ voice in order to show the concept of the project more vividly. Each staff only had one interview, and the interviewer had no scripts. Because the sentences were given in a colloquial style, we needed to make the messages clearer and persuasive. We, therefore, disassembled every sentence, while keeping the key messages, and reassembled them into completely new sentences.</p>
<p>		The documentary will be shown at the Hite Collection, located on the underground floor of Hite Beer’s headquarters in Cheongdam-dong, Seoul, until March 4, 2011.</p>
<h3 style="margin-top:20px;">1년간의 작업</h3>
<p>2010년 10월 8일 개관한 하이트컬렉션의 개관작 서도호의 Cause &amp; Effect (인연)의 제작 과정을 담은 다큐멘터리이다. 우리는 이 작품이 완성될 때까지 제작 과정을 1년여간 촬영하고, 총 2,365분의 클립을 편집하여 다큐멘터리를 제작하였다.</p>
<p>		전문 나래이터 없이, 전시될 공간의 설계 과정부터 인형의 제작, 작품 설치, 완성에 이르기까지 이 작품에 참여한 스탭들의 나래이션으로만 이야기를 전달하도록 하였다.</p>
<p>		내용을 전달하기에 발음과 발성이 분명한 전문 나레이터가 훨씬 유리했지만, 작품의 컨셉을 좀 더 충실히 드러내기 위하여 다소 위험하지만, 이 작품 제작에 참여한 스탭들의 목소리를 선택했다. 인터뷰는 딱 한 번 씩만 진행되었고 인터뷰어는 주어진 대본이 없었다. 우리는 이 구어체로 된 문장의 전달력을 높일 필요가 있었다. 그래서 우리는 인터뷰 문장을 완전히 분해하고 다시 새로이 하나의 완전한 문장으로 만들었다.</p>
<p>		이 다큐멘터리는 2011년 3월 4일까지 서울 청담동 하이트맥주 본사 지하 1층 하이트컬렉션에 전시중이다.</p>

<h3 style="margin-top:40px;">Rediscovery of serif typefaces</h3>
<p>When viewed with the Cathode Ray Tube TVs from the past, the edges of the serif typefaces had displayed the subtle shaking. Therefore, it was inevitable to mainly use the sans-serif fonts for broadcasting design. The selection of sans-serif fonts had been a must for long-term projects in particular, such as the design work for launching a new channel.</p>
<p>		And yet, Plasma TVs are currently replacing the Cathode Ray Tube TVs today. We, therefore, have made a bold decision to use serif typeface for this particular branding project. The wise courage of our client was the key that allowed us to move forward the decision.</p>
<p>		Because serif typefaces have never been seen to the viewers’ eyes, we have a high expectation that this branding project will catch the viewers’ attention with its freshness and rareness.</p>
<h3 style="margin-top:20px;">Serif 서체의 재발견</h3>
<p>과거 브라운관 TV 장비에서 serif 서체는 미세하게 글자의 엣지가 흔들리는 현상이 발생합니다. 따라서 지금까지의 방송 디자인에서는 sans-serif 타입의 서체를 주로 사용할 수 밖에 없었습니다. 특히 채널 런칭 디자인과 같이 장기적으로 운용될 것을 감안해야 하는 프로젝트에서 sans-serif 서체 선택은 거의 필수라 할 수 있습니다. </p>
<p>		하지만, 이미 Plasma 타입의 TV가 브라운관 타입의 TV를 대체하고 있는 요즘 우리는 이번 브랜딩 작업에서는 과감하게 serif 서체를 사용하기로 결정하였습니다. 무엇보다도 위와 같이 할 수 있었던 데에는 클라이언트의 현명한 용기가 발휘되지 않았더라면 있을 수 없는 일이였습니다.</p>
<p>		우리는 serif 서체가 기존 방송에서 흔히 볼 수 없던 형태의 서체이기 때문에 우리의 이번 브랜딩 작업이 시청자들에게 신선하게 어필할 것으로 기대하고 있습니다.</p>
